When Women Were Tech Unicorns: My Journey from Student to Startup and Beyond
Can you picture it? 20 years ago, women in tech departments were a rare sight. As a first-year student at Poznan University of Technology, I was one of just a handful of women in a class of 120. No internet at home, juggling student leadership roles, and commuting across the city for classes… it was a whirlwind!
The Challenge and Change
The odds felt stacked sometimes. Our class dwindled from 120 to 100 after the first year, and even fewer made it to graduation. Some stayed in academia, some blazed their own startup paths, some ventured abroad or completely switched fields. Each of us had a unique story unfolding.
Finding Your Own Path
Degrees are a powerful thing, but they’re just the start. Mine opened doors, but it was the experiences along the way that shaped who I became. Two kids while studying? Check. Student body leadership? Yep. A first “real” job in my senior year? That too.

From the scrappy energy of a startup to the aviation industry’s global scale, and now cutting-edge tech in the corporate world – each step brought new lessons and remarkable people. Now, it’s time to go full circle: working for myself while supporting the next wave of IT talent! 🦄
